A trip I try to run annually here at LPSB is the Culham Centre for Fusion Energy visit. Home to a nuclear fusion reactor only limited visits are possible and places are awarded by lottery. We have so far only been the once, but it was a very interesting place! It seems the reactor, which broke the record for fusion energy efficiency in 1997, will be fired up again in November for another serious attempt at fusion. It has been upgraded and modified countless times since 1997 and UK scientists will be crossing their fingers.
